Music & Mission

SCRIPTURAL  REFERENCES . . .

Biblical scripture serves to guide their path as the LeVan Piano Duo sets out to say, "Here I am, Lord" (Isaiah 6:8).   The following are passages that speak to using their gifts and talents to the Glory of God, and serving those who are called in ministry, and in mission.

From Paul's letter to the Church at Ephesus:

19     speaking to one another with psalms,

        hymns, and songs from the Spirit.

        Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord

20     always giving thanks to God the Father for

        everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A psalm of David . . .

            for he has done marvelous things;

4     Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth,

            burst into jubilant song with music;

5     make music to the Lord with the harp,

            with the harp and the sound of singing,

PHILIPPIANS 4:16-18

From Paul's letter to the Church at Philippi . . .

16     for even when I (Paul) was in Thessalonica,

        you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.

17     Not that I desire your gifts;

        what I desire is that more be credited to your account.

18     I have received full payment and have more than enough.

        I am amply supplied, now that I have received

        from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent.

        They are a fragrant offering,

        an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.

MATTHEW 28:16-20

"The Great Commission" from the Gospel of Matthew . . .

16    Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee,

        to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.

17     When they saw him, they worshiped him;

        but some doubted.

18     Then Jesus came to them and said,

        “All authority in heaven and on earth

        has been given to me.

19     Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

        baptizing them in the name of the Father

        and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20     and teaching them to obey everything I have

        commanded you. And surely I am with you

        always, to the very end of the age.”
